Folder-Files created when inserting Page Numbers

Word seems to be automatically creating a new folder with 2 files every time
I insert page numbers in a Word Document. It is this situation or when I do
an 'update field' on my table of contents. The files in the folder are
flielist.xml and header.htm. No other users I know are experiencing this. I
am using Word 2003.

Save the document as a document, not a web page.

I am saving as a word document. Word creates this files/folder as soon as I
insert page numbers.

Those files relate to XML and web pages; they are not created in relation to
ordinary Word documents unless you've got some custom code running in the
background.

Go to Tools-->Options-->Save tab. What is your default save format at the
bottom? Likely, it's NOT Word document.
