I forgot how to make the text of folders and apps on your desktop
transparent. I'm talking about the little gray box around the text of
the folders or apps.

If you're talking about the icons on the desktop - then

Click on the Start button
Select Control Panel
Then select Performance and Maintenance/Adjust Visual Effects/"Use drop shadows for
icon labels on the Desktop".
Classic - Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings
If this still doesn't do the trick, right-click the desktop, point to Arrange Icons
By and make sure that Lock Web Items on Desktop is un-checked;

Thanks TaurArian,

I also have another question...On my desktop, how do I make the icons
drag and drop to wherever I want. They always get sucked to the
left-side. I can do it on other accounts but mine.

Right-click on the desktop and uncheck auto-arrange.
