Folders have the option of displaying a count of unread messages or of all
messages, but there is no option to display no messages.

Hi,
why should outlook shows you no message?
If you have no message, outlook shows you nothing.
0+0=0 ;-)

I understand how my statement could have been misleading. I was refering to
the count being displayed beside the folder name in the "All Mail Folders" or
"Favorite Folders" sections of the navigation pane on the left. If you right
click on the folder and choose properties, the general tab has two radio
buttons for "Show number of unread items" and "Show total number of items".

My suggestion is simply to add a third radio button labeled "Show no item
count". This would be helpful for me as I have several rules that copy items
to folders. When this happens I do not want the display to indicate that
there are unread items in the folder that need to be read, nor do I want the
interface cluttered with a count for this folder that I normally don't care
about.

To fully solve this problem though would require that the folder name did
not turn bold when unread items were put in it or alternativly the rules
system would need to be enanced to either allow a rule to run on items coming
in to a specific folder, or allow a rule to run when items are deleted.
