how can i change folders from read only to archive thanks

Two points:

1. Read-only is not opposed to archive. Each is a separate attribute
and a file can be either, both, or none.

2. Unlike files, folders can not be read-only. the read-only attribute
doesn't apply to folders, and should be ignored.

In addition to what Ken posted.

To set the Archive attribute on a folder.
Right click folder, click Properties and click the Advanced button on the
general tab.
Check the box next to: Folder is ready for archiving, the click OK twice.

Folder is ready for archiving...
[[Specifies whether this file or folder should be archived. Some programs
use this option to control which files and folders are backed up.

If multiple files or folders are selected, a check mark means that all the
files or folders have the archive attribute set. A filled box means that
some files or folders have the archive attribute set and some do not.]]
