Sorry, I was trying to provide some missing info on
earlier strings below. See my postings at 11:38 am and
4:29 pm yesterday. To summarize, I moved a hard drive
from PC running WIN XP Home to another running the same
OS. In trying to access/copy files from hard drive, I
got "access denied" messages. I eventually was able to
get to "security" tab in "properties," and tried to use it
to change ownership so I could get access. But in
changing ownership of folders, I couldn't get the
subfolders, files, etc. in folder to change as well, even
after following instructions in various articles including
308419. I can change ownership (and then get access) if I
do them one-by-one, and now have been able to do some by
swiping multiple files within same folder, but I was
looking for a way to avoid such tedious, error-prone
work. Files are apparently compressed (can't uncompress
without getting ownership either).
I appreciate any further thoughts.
