Folder Access Problem

Hey. In my documents and settings folder i have my user
account from a previous windows installation, which i
made private. Now i have had to install windows again but
now even with the same name and password that was used in
the previous installation, i can't get into the folder!
Its got all my email settings and some files i left on my
desktop that i need to get back.

In short, is there any way i can get into this folder?
