In which our hero drives his motor car with a camcorder on the passenger seat.

This is actually part one for this forum but over at my other residence, the USA forum BBF, it is part eight. I posted the first one in February 06 and they proved popular with our American, Canadian and Anzac cousins as they got to see parts of the uk.

They particularly liked the one where I drove around Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace.

Anyways, this is a 44 minute movie and I'm afraid it's rather large, clocking in at 2Gb

I used a camcorder for the original movies but this one was taken with a Nikon Coolpix S500 digicam. At the camera's highest res I can record 30 minutes of movie on a 2Gb sd card. This footage was taken on two cards then spliced together in Pinnacle Studio Ten and rendered.

I do talk for parts of it so you can hear my dulcet tones but be warned, there is a cuss word right at the beginning, it just kinda slipped out :o Sorry bout dat.

The music was actually playing in the car, a cd full of favourites of mine, as it happens they're all oldies, I ain't usually that retro, straight up guv :D If you listen carefully you may hear me sortta singing along and making an awful racket to some of the music.

This journey took place last Thursday 10th January on a sunny day and takes in Chislehurst; Petts Wood; Orpington; Chelsfield; Dunton Green; The M25; Swanley Bye Pass and Danson Park at Bexleyheath. Sometimes it's a bit boring when I'm stuck in traffic but there ya go.

I will leave this on the BBF server for two weeks so if you want it, grab it now.

And so, for your delectation: (right click and select 'Save Target As' or similar)

Flops' Travels Part One

Will have a look at it tomorrow.:thumb:
Hmmm 2GB that will please my ISP on my monthy limit, but hell i never get near the max of 6GB.
It's time to be a rebel.:D

Sadly not all is well on the link you gave?
It died on me @ 1.19GB & 4Hrs : 28Mins into the download.:(

I'm just off to throw my teddy out of the pram.

Suggest you check your ISP feckit :(

The file actually took me 12 hours to upload at half a meg upload speed and at least six of our American, Australian and Canadian brethren have downloaded and viewed the file. Average download time for them was around 100 minutes.

It is located on a server in Texas, so that may have some bearing on it but there again one guy in Australia has it.

Suggest you try downloading overnight and disabling all auto-updates during download.

Annoyed me this... died at 22%. I really wanted to see this too.

No need to check my ISP - I know that's the problem, being in a Uni it is always dying temporarily for one reason or another.

I actually had the same idea only a couple of months ago, but wasn't sure how legal it was to film in public, plus I couldn't really afford the fuel to do any kind of distance...

I'll try downloading it again (in the middle of the night) as hopefully there will be less people on the network then.

No problems here ... even liked the music. :D

i'm downloading it now, wasn't bothered about it being 2gig but it wont go over 550KB/s :(

I would love to have 550KB/s mate - look at this:

Damn University networks... It'll pick up as the night draws in.

Will try it again over weekend or at night.
Got a few busy days with work so will not have time until Friday.:(

I'll be removing this from the server at around 10am on Monday so if you haven't downloaded it and want to give it a look-see, do it before then.

I know Mucks and E&PF have viewed it and offered brief comment but did anybody else?

Any views?

Was it worth the effort of a 12 hour upload from me?

All comments, honest, derisory, bemused, apathetic, favourable whatever - welcome :)

Huh i didnt know about this, had i heard before hand i might have actually bothered to download it (at a freinds house) .
2Gigs.... brutal :D

whats the reason for taking it down?

what did yanks think of it? :)

Not sure if you'll be able to view this thread without being a member but here's a link anyway:

My American and Canadian brethren actually comment a damn sight more than my staid UK counterparts ;)

However, as one guy pointed out to me, footage of UK roadways is a lot more interesting if you're sitting on the other side of the Atlantic than it is if those same roadways are just outside your own front door.

It would have taken ages to download this from home. I would like to see it again Flopps.

However if I did it at work it would have taken me around 5 minutes. :)

I have experienced speeds of 8mb a second at work. But with fibre optic connections and connecting at the correct point i've been told can reach speeds around 90mb a second. I don't beleive that until I see it.

Ended up watching it.
Have you thought of doing the M25 next?
Could be a good one & an all day jobbie!!

Does he talk a lot through it with a south London accent??

it would have been a good watch.

Oh I am just watching it. It took 8 hours to download. Nice job Flopps, good music too loving the reggae.

I swear you mentioned something about a porn star. That was funny. You got a strong London accent there Flopps. :)
