Try Popcorn at http://www.ultrafunk.com/products/popcorn/
It is VERY small and designed to run off a floppy.

A new version 1.48 was just released a few days ago.

My only complaint with Popcorn is that it does NOT support attachmments.
(i.e. I cannot use popcorn to send attachments!)
But I do not think any of the small EMAIL clients do.

Pimmy can read and send attachments and it's less than 500K. Morover is a
simple newsreader. Last beta has filters feature and is available on our
site. The beta is stable (same version is already 3.4 final version in
italian) but in any cases final 3.4 version will be available early.

Pimmy is free and you can download it from www.geminisoft.com (italian) or
www.geminisoft.com/geminisoft.eng (english, french, indonesian).

Any e-mail program can send/receive attachments: use a separate program
first to encode the attachment, then cut-and-paste it into your e-mail
program. Not nearly as fast or convenient, but it works.
