Hi - unusual problem with floppy disk drive
First to eliminate - have tried new drive and cable with same results and
new Verbatim Disks
I have 2000 with SP2
The problem shows when formatting a floppy or creating (for example) Windows
2000 Setup Boot Disks
During the creation of Boot Disks I get a 'Drive not Ready' error message
at a seemingly random period of time during the creation of the disk.
Two things solve the problem
1) Run windows in safe mode - drive works fine and MUCH faster
2) I experimented with removing some running processes before starting using
the drive - i stoppped all the processes relating to my HP printer (only
picked it because I could recognise its processes in Task Manager by
name!!!) - now the disk would be created perfectly but very slowly and
'grind' through the process.
I have no 'intensive' processes running during this time
Am lost!!!!!
Many Thanks in advance for any help or pointers
