Your floppy drive along with most of the components on the motherboard
are on the PCI bus. I suspect it is simply a bad floppy drive. I assume
you get some type of error that says "Not ready reading drive A". That
usually means the physical sensor in the drive that detects a disk is
broken.

"my system wont read floppys"

Does that mean you have tried more than 1 floppy drive
with no luck?

Usually when this has happened to me, one of the following
has occurred:
1) I plugged the power cable in incorrectly, or
2) I plugged the data cable in backwards, or
3) While working in the box, I inadvertently disconnected
the data cable at the motherboard connection, or
4) The floppy drive was bad, or
5) I found a 3x3" sticky note crammed in the floppy drive!

Hopefully, it is just something basic.
Good luck.

Sorry, didn't read your post carefully or would have caught that it is
showing in device manager. Do you have, in device manager, Floppy disk
controller listed? It should be right above Floppy disk drives (which
should also be listed). If you only show the controller then you don't have
the floppy enabled in the BIOS, and I was right to begin with. If it is not
showing the Floppy controller then you could have it disabled or a hardware
problem.

Try updating your chipset drivers. Also, try and see if your floppy is
connected to the floppy controller (if you have been into the hardware
before and know what you are doing) since in device manager it should say
connected to standard floppy device controller not PCI.

Try uninstalling it and see if Windows picks it up correctly when you
restart. Mine are signed by MS for the drive and the controller.
