Tanya

hello,
new panasonic 1.44 mb 3.5" diskette drive (no diagrams etc) and the
power connector appears to have the 5 volt (red) wire next to the ribbon
cable (vs. what i have been used to where usually the yellow is inside
(or closest to the data cable))
there's also a "5V" written on the back of the drive next to the inside
pin looking @ the back of the drive)
[outside| | | | 5v inside][ribbon cable] [other side]
(i sincerely hope that the above is clear)
i assume for this particular drive, this is the correct orientation
(also it seems only to fit that way:)
just want to be SURE
thanks

The power connector is designed to only fit one way. Yes, on this drive,
the 5V line is on the inside.

The other floppy drives you have seen, probably have the data connector on
the left and the power connector on the right, and would have the 12V line
on the inside. :)

hello and thanks very much for the reply!
the ones i have been *working* with are Y.E.A.R.S. old from baby-at's (circa
1993-1995) and their data connectors are also on the right.
however you did answer my question :)
sincerely

Were those old drives 5.25", with the larger power connectors?
