I've installed new motherboards on two computers, one on
Win2k and one of Win98. When I open My Computer, it say's
there's a floppy drive there but when I try to access it,
on Win98 it says there's no floppy in drive (retry/cancel)
and on Win2k it freezes and explorer crashes.
Does anyone want to help me?
(I'm 15 - I think I did pretty well, so far. I built this
computer... :S)

Amelia,

Is the floppy identified in the BIOS correctly?

Is the cable between the motherboard and the floppy tightly seated and not
installed backward? (If it's backwards the floppy drive lite is on all the
time.)

Amelia,

This is a XP support newsgroup. Please direct Windows 98/Windows 2000
questions tothe correctly newsgroup.

Check to see that the cable is correct place in the pins (both ends) and
that Pin 1 lines up with the red striped wire.

Check the motherboard BIOS and make sure that the floppy settings are
correct.
