I bought my computer about 3 years ago (amd Athlon 64
with 1ghz processor and 128mb of ram) but have just
updated it to win XP from win ME. For some reason it does
not display the floppy drive in 'my computer' and is
saying that it is not installed though it can detect it
and it is apparently functioning normally. My question is
how do I install it so win XP recognises it and I can use
my vast collection of floppy discs containing important
work documents on it? Hope someone can help.

Rt click on MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>Floppy
Drive Controller and Floppy Disk Drives. rt click and select uninstall.
Let WinXp reinstall those devices.

I found this works OK whilst the computer is left on, but
if you reboot it reverts to the original state.
