Floppy Drive Accesses When Desktop Loads After Boot-Sequence Completes

I just upgraded to XP Home from MSMe, Dell
PIII/933....after booting, it checks my floppy drive 'A',
then my CD-ROM, then finds the operating system on the
HDD, and starts to load the desktop....however, while
the 'Welcome Screen' is on the monitor, or, after loading
some programs, after the last icon in the Systray is
loaded, the floppy drive is accessed again, this even
happens after a clean install, with nothing else
installed but the O/S......anyone got any ideas? I've
tried selective startup, all services and start-up items
unchecked, low-level formatted my HDD, re-partitioned, re-
formatted, and re-installed O/S, it even does it in 'Safe-
Mode', I've tried just about everything, it even passes
the 'XP Upgrade Hardware Compatabilty Wizard' (as not
having any problems). Ideas?? Thanks!!-al

Hi,

Try this:
Right click on the bottom task bar/property/start
menu/customize and in the program area, click the "clear
list" button.

If still no avail, try boot into bios and disable startup
floppy seek then save and exit.

Hope it helps.

I'll give it a try, thank-you----al

Hi,
I clicked-on all of the 'Clear' buttons, without
success, and there isn't any floppy-seek configuration in
the BIOS.....I'm about out-of ideas......anything else
you can think of? Thanks in advance-al
