Some other alternative measures:
(please read the entire message first before cutting/carving/drilling !!)
1) Does the floppy drive butt (front ??) up tight to the case front bezel ?
That's the preferred location . You want the ejected floppy to stick out as far
as possible for obvious reasons.
If not; check for another set of screwholes on the floppy drive cage that will
make it "butt up". You may find that the 'bottom' mounting holes will work (yes;
most floppy drives have screwholes on the bottom).
It's also possible that the floppy drive cage has alternate mounting screws or
tabs to attach it to the case ; and possibly that the drive cage may be turned
around backwards.
If neither of the above correct the problem; you can fix 'that issue' by
drilling new mounting holes in the floppy drive cage or elongating some of the
existing ones. I'd advise drilling a slightly larger hole so that you can "fine
adjust" the mounting location. Be sure to use a fairly large washer under the
screw head if you do this.
2) If the case button *still* doesn't work properly after the above treatment :
First -- check for "flashing" on the case button; the hole for the case button;
and the back side of the case bezel area that the floppy drive faces.
"Flashing" in this case is molding flaws in the plastic; usually thin "fins" or
lumps . Carefully carve these away, but make sure you aren't cutting something
that's supposed to be there.
It's also possible that there may be some "breakaway" tabs or such on the case
plastic to correct your problem.
If that doesn't cure the problem; you may have to add a shim to the back of the
case button and/or remove some of the plastic on the back side of the case bezel
where the button goes thru.
Whatever you do:
"Cut a little; try it --- if that doesn't quite do it , cut a little more and
try again until it works"
This isn't anything new. It happens with just about every product known. I've
had to do similar "make it fit/make it work" scenarios with cars ; antennas;
buildings; desks; lawnmowers; backhoes; fenceposts --- endless list.

when posistioning the drive with disk inserted. the shaft from the case button
should very lightly contact with the button on the
drive. Just enough to protrude the case button out, so when pushed, the disk
pops out, Hopefully enough to be able grab the disk
;^), If your case needs an extension, it usually comes in the case wrapped
around the pigtails from the case leds....at least on the
