Ran the critical Win XP updates and shortly after that I
discovered the floppy is not accessible. I checked the
System/Device manager and everything is OK.
"A" drive is still listed in Windows EXPLORE but not
accessible. Always say "Media Not Recognized" or "...May
Not Be Formatted" or "...Turn off any other applications
that may be using this drive". Tried cleaning the drive
and finally REPLACED the drive but everything stayed the
same. It has to be a software issue. I did download a
driver update during the Windows update procedure I
mentioned earlier, could this be the problem for Both
Floppy drives doing the same thing????

I have been having the same problems with my floppy drive, as well as my DVD, CD, and all of my photo card drives. Sometimes, when I restart or boot my system, the drive(s) will inexplicably come to life for a short time, but the last couple of days, I've been going crazy trying to download an Excell worksheet I loaded onto a floppy drive from my XP system at work. I have suspected that it had something to do with the XP updates, but I can't prove anything.
