Anybody have problems with floppy disk drives not reading
floppies on Win XP? Either cannot see the floppy or the
format is not recognised and would you like to format it,
when you answer yes it cannot format the floppy.

I think I faced this similar problems too, even replaced new Floppy drive
into system and changed numerous diskettes to read but problems persisted
with that same dialog prompt.

You might have to replace the floppy drive cable with a different type.
I had this problem with Windows 2000 and tried everything including
different floppy drives and only changing the cable worked.

Thanks for your reply, but this cable which is correctly connected on this
FDD since the first day I had setup my system, there isn't any encounters of
such problems as abovementioned, therefore, I really could not understands
the real cause factor.
In my case I was using the same cable that had worked for years on that
machine. Only after replacing the cable could I get the floppy drive to
work again. My guess is that the newer operating systems are less
tolerant than Windows 98.
