Everytime I put a floppy in, i get a message saying "please insert disk".
another person had the same problem as me, but the responded solutions don't
apply to my computer. i've looked in the control panel, and it says my
device is working properly, and is connected properly. what else is there
that i'm not seeing?

I keep getting a message when i turn on my computer that it can not read my
floppy disk. THis is because i do not have a floppy disk on this computer.
How do i get rid of this?? how can i get rid of the floppy disk drive that is
on this computer??

Swap out the floppy drive for a known-working one. Just because your
drive shows up in Device Manager does not mean the drive is really
working.

Also you might want to try a different cable as XP seems to be more
sensitive to problems with the hardware.
