I am running Windows XP Home Edition. My floppy driver is corrupted. I need
to uninstall and reinstall my floppy disc driver. I have looked everywhere
for this driver...I have NO disc, came already installed...Even tried a Sony
external drive, it said to use the Windows driver that is already installed
on my computer. Their website does NOT carry the driver for Windows XP. HELP!!

Probably it is in the BIOS, how do you know it is corrupted?

Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Floppy drive........then reboot
XP should detect and load the drivers at this point.

Tried this approach 3 times. I need to remove the corrupted driver and
replace it. I can't find the driver on the website...any website!!

That is probably the problem.

Remove the battery to clear the BIOS settings. The do a new
flash with the proper BIOS file if you can without the
floppy. Look for a Express BIOS update that can run within
Windows.

Otherwise, you may need a new motherboard.

Tried pointing the installation wizard to the \windows\inf folder?

the driver is built into xp, go to device manager and uninstall the floppy
drive controller and the floppy drive, reboot and it should reinstall it. If
it doesn't it is possible that the drive is bad or the controller is not
working.
