I just upgraded a win98 to w2000. I admit to having a difficult time of
loading the
motherboard (ECS) drivers, but Device Manager and everything seems happy.
The problem we have is that we have constant Floppy Disk access attempts.
If I try to load explorer, the floppy try's to access (even if empty), if I
try to access a network drive the floppy attempts an access. As you can
guess this is annoying and actually halts programs when there is no diskette
in the drive.
If I shut down the floppy controller, the system works fine. As soon as I
enable the controller the problem continues.
The system is using the basic windows floppy driver. I have attempted to
reload it without avail. I have even reloaded Win2K.
Does any of this ring a bell to you? An ideas.
Thanks for any help you can offer.
