Hi all - PTT 2002 XP - WinME

I am creating a page for my personal webspace, and I would like to add some
small little sunbeams that would appear here and there on and off.

I was wondering if someone might have an idea of how to create a graphic
that would look like small 'lil sunbeams that just sorta flick by like. I
know what I want, but, I haven't been to find anything that I can use to
create one thus far.

I would truly appreciate any ideas of suggestions for creating something
like this.

Jan :)

Hi Jan,

Sunbeams --

Draw | Autoshapes | Trapezoid
Format | Autoshapes | Colors and Lines | Fill | Fill Effects
Select Vertical 2 color shading
Color 1 yellow with 75% transparency
Color 2 yellow with 100% transparency
Ok out of that part
Line | Color | No Line
Ok out of this, too
Turn the shape so the narrow end of the trapezoid is up and maybe a little
tilted
Add a motion path, an entrance fade and a delayed exit fade (all start with
previous)
Copy the autoshape with another couple of delays

Play with the settings to achieve the look you want. The Desert and Wheat
presets also looked promising.

Oh my! This sounds perfect! Trapazoid ...huh! Why... now I would never
have thougth of that one at all.

'k....I'm off to give it a whirl....or maybe a pinwheel.....<g>

Thank you very much, I really do appreciate your time and help. :-)

Jan :)

Hi Bill!

They work just perfect! ;-))

I am playing with the random timings, effects and 'sightings' and colors,
and so far they are doing very nicely. Looks really kewl!! When I get them
done and the page up on the web. I'll post back and let you have a
see....'k?

One more question...what do I need to do to keep the animation for them when
I post them on the web? Does it create a folder for the animations and such
of it's own, or do I need to create one for them?

Thank you again for all your help, I truly do appreciate it. They look very
warm and playful. ;-)

Jan :)

Hi Jan, sounds like Bill got you all sorted out. I couldn't offer any
suggestions because it is raining cats and Sea Worms here in (supposedly)
sunny FL. You might want to consider having another set of graphics for
these rainy days that you can activate. Unless of course you are in SO CAL.
;-)

Have fun.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for

Hello,

If you (or anyone else reading this message) have suggestions for how to
make this easier to do in PowerPoint, don't forget to send your feedback
(in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

Are you posting your PPT presentation as a web page, Jan? If so, just use
File/Save As Web Page, click the Publish button, and then click the Web
Options button. On the General tab there, click the option to show animation
while browsing.

You shouldn't have to create a new folder or anything, because you're just
using autoshapes with animations applied. PPT should translate that just
fine.

You might want to put a link to the Animation Run Time thingamajig. Some of
your website visitors might need to install it in order to see the
animations properly.

Yes..I'm hoping to post it as a webpage. Notice I used the word 'hoping'.

Ahh..good! That sounds simple enough. Simple is always best for me. I'll
try that and see how it goes. said:

Yeah...that would be a good idea too. I wondered about the animation stuff
working for everyone. Being as the sunbeams will be autoshapes, will they be
able to be seen by those who use other than IE browsers? Or is this what
Run Time thingie is for? I had to redo the sunshine graphics for that
reason.

Thanks for the additional info! ;-).

Hey Mikey! Whazsup?

Got'cher worm bucket full yet? <g>

Well....what can I say. You right coasters insist on having everything with
a water chaser. ;-))

Which ones.....raindrops....or seasprouts...?
Unless of course you are in SO CAL.

'Bout as south CAL as ya can get, right 'afore ya trip over the Border into
beautiful downtown TJ. :-)

It was blazing sun and 106 degrees here in Santee/El Cajon today. Expecting
the same tomorrow.

On days like this, the biggest thrill around here for folks is to sit in
front of their picture window in the livingroom and wait for the sprinklers
to come on, then watch the water evaporate in mid-air. 'Course, we don't
have sprinklers at our house, we don't have grass....and daddy convinced
the cactus they're airferns....so... my folks sit and make bets on how long
it takes the plastic pink flamingos in the front yard across the street to
melt.
Have fun.

Thanks a bunch..and if you get a break in the clouds and find any ideas
still afloat ...give 'em a shove in this direction. <g>

Jan :)

Doing better here now that the sun is back. Yes I did fill the bucket. I
hear you about the blazin' sun. I used to live in Carlsbad and visited
relatives in Chula Vista many times. Gotta be careful not to turn the wrong
way! Maybe during the month of Feb. you can have the rain drop effects on
your web site. Help dispell that rumor that it never rains in sunny CA.

Take care.

From that page --
Office Animation Runtime allows you to view PowerPoint 2002 (or later
version) Web presentations that contains animations in Microsoft Internet
Explorer 5.0 or later, if you do not have PowerPoint installed.

So it looks like IE 5.0 or later.
