Flip 3D dissapeared

It worked fine a few hours ago. I don't know what I did but now it just does
what Alt+TAB would do in WinXP. I can't seem to find the solution in the Help
& Support... With all the improvement you'd think it'd be there.
A small problem maybe, but I really liked the Flip 3D feature... : \
Any ideas on how to solve it, anyone?

Something to try...
Right-click the Desktop
Choose PERSONALIZE
Click on WINDOW COLOR & APPEARANCE
Click on the OPEN CLASSIC APPEARANCE PROPERTIES link
Choose AERO and click on OK

I'm using the botton on the quick launch... not the alt+tab.

I tried the directions, but I can find no "OPEN CLASSIC APPEARANCE
PROPERTIES"... :\
am I missing something... are you maybe?
I'm sure that activating aero WILL indeed work... but I just don't know how
to do it...

I also had the Flip 3D working just fine, until today when I tried to show it
to a visitor. I couldn't get it to work no matter what I did. I was
embarassed that it didn't work after bragging on it. I even checked the MS
website for answers. So, after the visitors left I came here to look for an
answer, and all I did was click on the "Switch between windows" icon in the
tool bar, like I had been doing before and only got the other version of
switch screen, and it started the Flip 3D again. I did no changes other than
logging in here to find an answer, and to try the "Personalize" option that
was suggested. After finding out it worked, I checked my settings, and it
was already set for Aero. I think Vista has gremilins hiding, waiting for
the worst opportunity to act-up. My Vista Home Premium version was installed
on a new Gateway, from the factory.

Well, I can't find the "OPEN CLASSIC APPEARANCE PROPERTIES link" that dev
mentioned...
And my "Desktop Performence for Windows Aero" is showing 5.9... which
according to the windows help & support, is THE best there is right now.
:(
I really like all that desktop animation... What could possibly have
happened? : /

Richard... you totally solved my nVidia problem (with the blue screen)... I
found the updated driver & now all is well...
Please... help me with this 3D Flip & Aero issue...

RTM stands for Release to Manufactuirng as compared to the Beta,
ReleaseCanditate1, or RC2 release and is version ..6000 of Vista which is
the veresion that you can now purchase.

I have a *new* Windows Vista Premium Edition 32-bit.
It's from a store and doesn't seem to be Beta.
i think the solution might be what dev talked about... only I can't find\see

Triple EYE, Try this, it won't work, not for long if it does at all, but this
is how to change it back to Aero.
Go to your desktop, Right click on an empty section of the screen, choose
Personalize the Windows Color and Apperance then Choose Windows Aero then Ok
or Apply. After a lengthy period of nothingness the screen comes back and in
theroy you should now be able to use your flip 3d, the way it used to be.
Don't worry though Windows will switch it back off for ya again. This is
beyond annoying, it's sad. Just for the people that say I may not have a fast
enough machine. It's got a 256 meg stand alone Nvidea video card with 2gigs
of system Ram. Any advice for us that are having this problem would be great.

Well, I wasn't aware that Aero manifests itself simply as a widows THEME. You
made it clear & it worked (for now). I don't get how it switched by itself...
but at least now I understand how to switch it back.
THANK YOU !! :)

There are reports that RealPlayer turns it off, I can't confirm as I don't
use realplayer.
