If I bought , say, the CH USB Fighterstick, can it be used with
other types of games? Like Call of Duty, strategy games, etc. It's
got a lot of buttons :). Or is the mouse/keyboard the best way for
the other games. It would be 'nice' to have only 1 type of
controller for all games.
Your opinion?

Thanks, Bob

It should work as game devices are game devices. My only experience
with flight yokes are with a Radio Shack Game Port Model. It worked
until one of the axis wires broke in the cable and it was not able to be
detected even as a 2-axis 2-button joystick. I have a few other
joysticks, including a flight yoke that has a Hat switch, I'm not sure
if the hat switch would work on a modern system.

It can work with most games, but for anything other than flight or driving
games a stick sucks.
I've got a logitech mouse woith 8 programmable buttons. I lost the use of
one hand,so all those buttons are great for me.

Which mouse do you have? I have a Razer with 7 buttons, but I find the
extra buttons on the side are badly placed. It's not easy to hit the
right button. I have the same problem with one hand, and really need
the extra buttons for shooters.

Not Fighterstick really not intutitive for those type games. What you really
want is the USB CH prothrottle for your left hand and right hand on the the
mouse which is still the best to look around and move left to right.

You can map it anyway you want but as a sample I map the 2 buttons on top as
walk forward and backward. Your most intuitive fingers at your command.
The thumb hat switch is ideal for strafe left and right and prone and up.

Think about it..your index finger walks forward and your thumb rests on the
thumb hat switch which you press down to go prone..real quick.

Heh, that's the way I used to do FPS back before I learned about the
mouse/keyboard combination. It worked well for it's time, though, and did
give me the ability to strafe.

Oh I find the CH throttle and mouse much quicker than kbd and mouse.I can
strafe and go prone without moving my hand which is not so on the keyboard.
Of course I don't claim to be fast on a kbd:)

One map is my FPS as they're mostly the same.
Not only does it work well with FPS but also with other games like subs,
dangerous water, pirates etc. Like SHIII .. all my critical comands
(rudder, periscope, crew stations) are resting right under my hand without
moving. Oh and crash dive too:)

Logitech 518 I think. The new version has one less side button. I do have
some trouble using the side buttons with my pinkie but with practice it gets
easier.

For the Shooter-type game, I prefer a controller like the Nostromo
speed-pad made by Belkin - it's got a direction keypad and a
programmable keypad. And since it's USB there's no problem hooking it
up.
