Hi Mark,
I have a similar problem and receive exactly the same error message. If your
problem is related to 're-installing' FSX then there is a fix at:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928080 it may help.

If not then it may be the same problem i'm having descibed below and without
a fix I know about at present:

Flight Simulator X Deluxe fails to install. It gives the following error
message when ‘registering fonts’ at the very end of the install:

Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A
program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact you
support personnel or package vendor.

On clicking ok it uninstalls FSX and then gives a second error message at
the end of the ‘Rolling back action’:

Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation.
Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for further information.

I couldn’t find the Msi.chm file on either of the installation DVD’s so
looked at MSDN online. I searched for error 1722 and found a page entitled:

Error message "1722" when you try to reinstall Flight Simulator X

Since I had tried to install the trial FSX (which never worked on my PC
either) I thought it could be related so downloaded the Windows XP fix
(MicrosoftKB928080) and ran it using the resetsldl –all command. This didn’t
work and gave yet another error message:

Resetsldl.exe – Entry Point Not found
The procedure entry point DecoderPointer could not be located in the dynamic
link library KERNAL32.dll.

Now I'm stumped. Anyone any ideas??? I've even tried to raise a Microsoft
e-mail help request but this only works if you can provide the product ID
number. How do you find the number - by starting the game that won't install
- dur!!!
