Flickering Screen

Hi all.
I really need help here. I recently purchased a new motherboard. It
is a NVIDIA nForce 2 (NF2S-ALH) along with a new processor, AMD
Athlon XP2200 with a Thoroughbred cord, 2 ea 128mb DDr333MHR, PC 2700
and of course a cooling fan.
I am running Win XP pro, DVD/CD RW, and the monitor is a SamSung
SyncMaster 174v (Analogu LCD), and an Nividia XFX TNT2 M64 32 meg
video card.
Here's the problem. After installing all the up to date drivers and
the BIOS. I can not boot up to the normal mode. When I do, get to
the desktop, it starts to blink out for several seconds. If I do not
move the mouse the screen will stay corrected. If I boot up into the
safemode, I have no problem.
I have changed the screen resolution to higher and lower freq's with
no change. I have also changed the resolution on the video card,
still no change. The screen keeps flickering. or blanking out.
I am at a lost as to what to try and do now.
If anyone has ideas, please pass it on.. I really could use some help
here.
Thanks,

Have you checked the refresh rate you are currently using? Keep in mind
that LCD monitors have a "native" resolution that they must run in for best
performance. Consult your documentation for this information.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for getting back to me. Yes, I have changed the resolution
for both the "Video card" and the monitor, to effect.
I am now getting an MS error and it is changeing the monitor to 640 x
480 and 16 bit.
I guess the problem is between the video card and the monitor. I am
almost positive it isn't between the operators's seat and the
keyboard. Then again, who know????

Dan, may need to download the INF file for the monitor. You should find the
INF file on the CD that came with the monitor too - just check that you
have the right one for XP. Right click on it and select Install. Restart.

This should get your hardware recognized and maybe it can start
communicating with your display driver better. I have a SyncMaster 171v and
used the INF file to stop it from showing up as "default monitor."

I want to thank you all for helping me out with your help and input.
I ended up wiping out the driver for the video card and then reloading
it.
Seems all is working now.
Again, thanks again.

Well, I am back to the drawing board. I thought I had this licked,
but thought wrong. I guess I am going to have to buy a video card
that the MB might be able to work with. If this doesn't work, I guess
I will call TigerDirect and see if I can get the MB replaced. The
only thing I can think of is a defect in the MB.

Follow up, with a solution.
I ended up buying a new video card with more memory on it, I also
installed 512 MB of DDR to go along with the 256 MB I installed
initially.
Now it burns across the room..:)
