Flicker problem in edit mode

Hi,
I'm using Powerpoint 2003 on XP SP2, HP laptop.

A number of of colleagues have asked about this (using IBM and Dell
laptops), and now it's happening to me. When I open a presentation in edit
mode (ie. not slideshow), the Powerpoint window starts to refresh
continuously, producing a "flicker" effect, and it will carry on flickering
indefinitely. Powerpoint still seems to respond to commands, and will even
display the slideshow correctly. If I reduce the size of the window
sometimes the flicker stops, but then starts again if I maximise.

It seems to be quite random.

Any ideas?

Yeah, I usually see it when I hit a slide that has lots of transparent,
semi-transparent, or gradient (with or without transparent/semi-tranparent)
objects. But not always!

I have this same problem and just tried adjusting the hardware acceleration
once, and then tried another notch down, but this still hasn't fixed the
problem.

Mine doesn't flicker constantly, but whenever I switch to view another slide
in Normal View, the slide refreshes anywhere from two to seven times.

My co-worker will open the same presentation on her older computer and has
no problems. It takes a lot of time and patience to work with any powerpoint
presentation because of this issue.

Any other ideas?
