Just prior to recently, The Christian Science Monitor
cited that a major flaw in Windows had been reported, from
Poland, a flaw in Windows that created swiss-cheese access
for hackers. I have Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron
(installed on the Dell when it arrived form the factory)
and my question is this: am I at risk for invasion of
hackers and if so, what can I do to correct my Windows?

Hi Judith,

visit www.windowsupdate.com and select Scan for Updates -> Click on Review
and install updates and then select Install Now.

This process will install all critical updates on your PC. You should visit
this page regularly to keep your PC up to date.

It's really tricky to answer that sort of question. It's rather like trying
to answer whether you're vulnerable to a new confidence trick that's
sweeping the nation - without being told what the con is about.

Having said that, my best advice would be to install / enable your firewall,
keep your system updated, and if you have the interest, go reading the
security bulletins from Microsoft.

Alun.
