Hi

Two questions:

1) A very bright line has appeared across the centre of my flat panel
screen. Any ideas?

2) I have an older Acer desktop that I have recently installed new RAM. Now
every time at boot up, I get a message saying the cover has been removed,
press F1 to continue. Any ideas for getting rid of this message?

Many Thanks

Dunno

Go into the BIOS (press DEL on bootup?) and find the entry to do with Case
Intrusion Detection and disable it. Save and exit. That should fix it.

Try setting the screen to different resolutions, and see if the
problem persists at other resolutions. If the line is always there
and in the same place, no matter what the resolution and image on the
screen, it's probably the monitor. If the line changes with the
resolution (that is, it's not always exactly the same line of pixels
on the screen), it's probably the video card.

If you are using analog input and you can shift the line by adjusting
horizontal or vertical positioning with settings on the monitor, it's
probably the video card. If the line doesn't move as you make
adjustments, it's probably the monitor.

Finally, you can try a different monitor. If the problem goes away,
it's the monitor; if it doesn't, it's the video card.

Change your video cable....

The case intrusion alarm is usually set in the BIOS. Check advanced
setting.
