Flash vs. Swish

I recently purchased a website template that has micromedia flash components.
I would like to edit these parts of the site. Can I use Swish instead of
Flash - more economical certainly - but are they compatible and why would I
chose Flash if they are considering the cost?

Perhaps, if you got the fla file in addition to the swf file in the
template, and if the fla has not used features not present in Swish.

They are largely compatible, otherwise. Flash is much more robust than
Swish, however....
