Flash problems on MySpace -- browser hijack attempt?

Whenever I'm on MySpace, I get this spam-looking, browser-hijack attempt kind
of an error message that takes over my whole screen (even the taskbar on the
bottom) and won't let me click "no" - it's like an endless loop of error
messages. I've taken 2 screen shots and posted the URL's below.

The only place I ever notice this is on MySpace, and it's about every 5
minutes, requiring me to ctrl+alt+delete and restart Internet Explorer. This
has been happening for 2 months, every few days it will happen constantly,
then quit for a week or so. I'm pretty sure it's not my computer, since I
keep myself protected with Norton Anti-Virus and AdAware - plus no other
website causes this to happen except MySpace.

Naturally, their technical "support" (sic) is non-existant at best. So I'm
calling in the heavy artillery - guys, anyone here care to venture a guess at
what might be happening? If anyone can answer this, you'll gain my utmost
respect and admiration!

Hi DJ,
YOu need to dwonload the latest version of Macromedia flash drivers to View
the mySpace Webpage which built with Macromedia Flash.
If you are sure you have the latest version then you may have Malware on
your System.
To download the Macromedia go to this link:

hey, thanks for the reply! I've done that Macromedia Flash update/install
before, but did it just now again, just to be sure. I just ran Adaware and
the only thing thing it found was 8 instances of something called "Alexa"
which I deleted - all of them regkey/regvalue "data miners". I should note
that I've been having other Flash problems and issues (which I was actually
going to save for another topic). It's just weird that with the huge amount
of websurfing I do, the only website I've ever noticed these problems on is
MySpace. I'm curious as heck to just click "Yes" one of these times, when I
get this message, but I'm afraid to since it could be spyware, masquerading
as an official "Flash" message.

Hi DJ,
Thanks for posting back, before doing this try to contact them and see what
they will say or needed for their page to run and if the Alert Message from
their Server.
You may need to install Shockwave on your system Too.., but see first what
MySpace will say.

I guess I'd better think about either installing Shockwave, or buying a whole
new computer completely. I'm literally at the end of my rope here -- this
problem is still happening. Those 2 screen shots I took are still appearing
periodically. One day it'll be fine and I can navigate thru MySpace pages
with ease. The next day (like right now) I get the Flash error message
screens that pop up and keep popping up every 3-4 minutes. The only way to
close 'em all out is ctrl+alt+delete. And again, the ONLY PLACE i ever
notice this is MySpace. I just don't know what to do.

that is very interesting! I think my problem might be traced back to a
browse hijack attempt tied into the Bloodhound Virus, but I installed a
Windows security patch that hopefully took care of that. Now I'm still just
getting the full-screen ads that pop up one right after the other - but only
when I visit Myspace and Tripod webpages (I still suspect it's all tied into
Macromedia Flash) - I've resigned to the punishment that this problem will
NEVER be resolved on my computer, and I'm just going to have to live with it.
It is literally impossible to fix or even diagnose what is happening.
