A new problem I cannot solve. My 1 Gb flash memory drive that I use to back
up my .doc and .xls files failed to show up in My Computer recently as drive
G:\. It usually use to come up as that. A lot of searching has found that
it is now in Control Panel, Portable media devices as drive G:\. It also
appears in notification area "Safely Remove Hardware" as drive G:\, but not
in My Computer.

I also discovered that when I navigate to it in Control Panel/Portable media
Devices, that I cannot run programs from it but have to copy them elseswhere
first, nor can I save directly to it. I recently upgraded Window Media
Player to version 10 and have concluded that it is now set up in a permanent
partnership with WMP for synchronization, which is not what I want and as far
as I can tell, was not something I agreed to.

I cannot find any help to break this partnership and get it running again as
a normal drive. Microsoft does not seem to have any advice on how to do
this and I do hope someone here can please help.

Run WMP and select Tools->Options->Library Tab->Monitor Folders button.
Click Advanced button. Check to see if your G drive is listed. If so
highlight and click Remove or Ignore and OK out of there.

Once again, you guys are absolutely brilliant, not only knowing so much but
in kindly helping rather ignorant people such as myself. Thank you for the
time and trouble. Sorrry I am rather late in acknowledging your help.
