I have 4 versions of flash9.ocx and 3 versions of flashhelperutil.exe
on my computer. Do I need all of them or can I delete the older
ones.

I am trying to solve the problem of IE windows in the background
locking up when I open a new browser window that has flash embedded.
Yhis mainly happens when I am directed to a site to view some flash.
If I leave the original browser indow minimized for too long, that
page will lock up. It gets progressively worse from taking several
seconds to close to having to reboot even after trying a file close
program. I can normally keep a number of IE windows open with no
problem. As soon as I include one with flash, I get the problem. I
normally do not have trouble with the page with the flash file though.

Thanks for any help

That got rid of the older files, but the freeze up problem still
persists. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi,
I would run the Flash uninstaller from
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157
Then redownload / reinstall Flash
Flash player download:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

Hope this helps,

Hi,
See if there's a conflict between browser add-ons. If this is IE6 XP SP2, go
to IE> Tools> Manage add-ons and disable non-microsoft, non flash add-ons.
If the problem resolves, re-enable add-ons one at a time until the problem
returns.
