Hi,

I have a program on CD. I need to boot from it. The clients notebook
is one of these tiny things with no CD drive and 2 USB ports.

I'm trying to see how to make an ISO of the CD I need to boot from,
put it onto the flash drive, and then boot from that.

Can anyone help me? How do I burn the ISO onto the flash drive so it
will boot INTO the program, as it would if it was on CD?

Thanks!

What is the operating system that is required to "boot into" to enable the
program to run? If Windows, you will be pretty much out of luck as Windows
does not like to boot from any USB external device.

If you are simply trying to run the program from the CD, copy the entire
contents onto the USB drive and attempt to run it that way.

If this is a proprietary bootable CD, you may need to go back to the company
that made it for a USB version.

Did that search. But the pages are unclear. They talk about making a
bootable flash drive, but not making a bootable one that boots into an
application.....

Because you have to have an *operating system* running before you can run an
application! You can have a minimal operating system like Very Small Linux
or the like on a bootable thumb drive and then have your application in its
Startup folder, but you can't just boot an *application* all by itself.

There is no need to make or burn an ISO. Simply copy the contents of the CD
onto the flash-drive. If that doesn't work, you may need to do any or all of
these: adjust boot order in the bios, reformat flash drive before copy (as
FAT32), and/or correct the boot code of the file system format. So let me
know what happens and I can give you detailed instructions. (Note, to find
this info for yourself, try looking for something like "Install Windows 7
from USB".)
