I have been using a 128MB USB 2.0 Flash Drive with no problems until now. I
have just used it and when I unplugged it crashed my machine it has done it
twice now. I plugged my camera in and unplugged that and the machine was
okay. Don't know what to do or where to look to resolve this problem and
don't know why it has started doing it now when it has been working fine.
When it is plugged in there is a little icon in the task bar with a green
arrow which when you hover over it, it says 'safe to remove device'. I had
been removing this device without doing anything with regard to the safe to
remove option as I dont have that on my desktop and it works fine but on the
desktop I'm running W98SE. Could this have caused the problem.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Lynn, I have a similar but different problem with my Flash Card Reader. I
can't boot XP when my card reader is plugged in. I can use the reader if I
plug it in after I boot, and I can disconnect it with no problem, even
without using the "Safe to Remove Hardware" icon. As with you, the card
reader worked fine with 98.

I guess that for some reason, there is a compatability problem with XP and
Flash Card Readers. The manufacturer of the card reader is trying, but
hasn't come up with an answer yet. The manufacturer of the computer won't
help me because they didn't sell me the card reader.
