Hi
at my work, when i open "Add/Remove New Hardware" in
control panel, "You Don't have sufficient prevelige".
my question is: Can I purchase and blug Flash disk in this
computer to carry my files to my home, or i still see this
message.my operating system is windows 2000.
thanx.

I'd ask your system administrator for a definitive answer,
but my best guess is that Windows Plug-N-Pray hardware is
recognized by Windows SYSTEM outside of any user account,
and you could probably plug it in either before power on,
or at Windows 2000 Login screen, before you log into your
user account, and then it should show up as a drive (as
long as it is formatted as an NTFS drive?) in Windows
Explorer. You probably wouldn't have to run the Add New
Hardware Wizard. (That's probably the alternative for new
hardware that is either NOT Plug-n-Pray Legacy stuff, or
is not auto-recognized following a hot plug-in.)
You may be denied privileges to run Control Panel applets,
but you can always unplug/replug USB devices and hope they
will show up in Windows Explorer.

But why not borrow someone's USB Flash device first and
hot plug it and try to view it in Explorer, before buying
one. (Don't go buy one just on my positive guess.)

It it shows up as a new drive letter, try to highlight it,
and see if you can read contents, or get an Access Denied
message or whatever.

Good luck.
