I have been tryong to run a flash download from Shuttle for my Ak31 motherboard do upgrade my bios so I can take full advantage of a 180g HDD. Every time i've run the program I get several "write fail" error blocks. I have switched out the disks, I have tried a different bios upgrade version and I get the exact same "write fail" error blocks. Is there something in my XP set-up that could be causing this? If so what can I do to fix this problem?

Thanks for any help.

You should be running the bios upgrade from a bootable floppy disk not
within windows, are you doing that.?
If not create a boot floppy and copy the upgrade program and the bios update
to the floppy, make sure the bios is set to boot from the floppy first and
start the PC with the floppy disk, then run the update from the dos prompt.
