Hi,

I am having two small problems in powerpoint. Basically I have inserted a flash animation with sound in powerpoint but as soon as I load up powerpoint (normal view) the sound is played (I think the animation is also played but I cant see that). Is there any way I can only play the flash file when that particular slide with it on is loaded??? Why is the sound file separated from the animation because when I change the playing property of the file to false, the sound still plays whereas the animation does not? How is this possible? My second problem is that in another presentation, I have inserted a sound on a slide and when i click my mouse the sound stops and the next slide appears but if i want to go back to the original slide, there is no sound. How can I change this

if you want to see an example of the problem then post a reply and I will email one to you by checking ur profile

Thanks for any help

See http://www.flashgeek.com for information on how to insert SWF files into
PPT. Hopefully that will let you see the Flash animation.

Sorry, I don't know the answer to this.

You need to go back to the slide before the original slide, because when you
return to a slide, you actually come into it at the *end* of the slide.
That's why the music doesn't restart.

You can create a "dummy" slide and insert it right before the slide you
really want. Put a 00-second automatic transition on it, and make it look
like the first state of the slide you want. Your audience won't realize that
you're linking back to the "dummy" slide then.

hi agai
thanks for your help. I followed your advice but still cant get it to work. Currently I have 3 slides
slide 1 - dummy slid
slide 2 - original slide
slide 3 - next slide of my presentatio

so slides 1 and 2 look the same and I have set up slide 1 using the options No transition effect and advance automatically after 00:00. Which slide do I insert my audio file in in order to get it to work since I cant get it to work and I have used all 3 possibilities? The sound is looped also. Does this method still work if I used a flash animation on both the dummy and original slides ie. slides 1 and 2

Thanks again

Set the audio to start from the second frame in the Flash file, that would
resolve this issue.

You need to set up a link from slide three to slide one. Then, when you go
to slide one (the dummy slide), you will immediately go to slide two.

To set up the link, place a rectangle somewhere on slide three and use
hyperlink (from the right click menu) to set a link back to slide one. Then
set the fill and line of the shape to no fill and no line (or better yet, no
line and 100% transparent fill, if you are using one of the versions that
allow that). Now, when you run your presentation, when slide three finishes,
click the box. (You will not be able to see it, but you will know where it
is. Plus, when your cursor gets over the shape, it will turn into a hand.)

If you will never go anywhere from slide three except for back to slide one,
then make the shape the size of your entire slide. That way, no matter where
you click you will get sent back to slide one.

Make sense? Try it before you answer - it is easier to do than it is to
explain :)

ok I tried again puting the sound file in slide 2 and when I view my
presentation this is what happens:
dummy transition occurs, slide 2 loads and sound is played. Then i press
space and slide 3 is loaded. ALL THATS OK..... next I press backspace to go
back to slide 2 but no music is played. In order to play the music again I
must press backspace for the second time to go to slide 1 and then space to
advance to slide 2 as normal. Is there no way I can just do this in one step
rather than 3??

Thanks for all your help It works fine. I know this may sound really annoying but is there any way for this to work without a mouse ie when you press backspace? Also does this work if I have another slide after the 3rd one?

Thanks again and sorry for all the questions

Unfortunately, mousing back to a slide will always give you the results you're seeing -- that is, you return to the *end* of the slide when what you really need is to enter from the *beginning* of the slide.

If you have a 4th slide, then just do the same thing -- either link back to slide 1, or create a dummy slide of slide 4, and then on slide 6, link back to the dummy (which is now slide 4).

Or try Shyam's suggestion to put the sound on the 2nd frame of the Flash file. That's very cool.
