I have a P4 IBM running XP Home that came pre-installed
so I do not have the disks and the system is running
really slow. I think I need to run a repair on XP. How do
I do this without the CD???

You can't, you will need an XP home CD.
You can complain to IBM about your displeasure.

Run Disk Cleanup and then Defragmenter. These will help.

The computer manufacturer/assembler (IBM?) is required by Microsoft to
supply you with some means of restoring the operating system to the
"as shipped from the factory" condition.

On many new IBM systems this is done by including a hidden partition
on the hard drive that contains an exact image of the factory-fresh
system. You can access this by pressing the F11 key during the
initial stages of the power-up.

Note that restoring in this way will wipe out everything that
currently exists on the hard drive, including all of your user data
files, emails, etc. and all of the installed application programs.

So do not do this except as a last resort.

Good luck
