Ever since i loaded my Motorola V600 mobile phone software onto my pc my
Contacts in Outlook email addresses have started to interchange between each
other.
ie today john will be (e-mail address removed)
peter will be (e-mail address removed) &
chris will be (e-mail address removed)
tomorrow when i try to send an email to anon1 it will goto 2 or 3 and anon2
email will goto 1 or 3 and so on. When i try to reinstall the correct email
address into the ones that have gone wrong a popup shows me what it should be
and even though i type what i know is correct it insists on putting this
other address in and when i tab away from that field the inserted email
address disappears as well.

i have removed the motorola software and double checked for viruses but this
has made no difference

please help

Normally yes but as i had my last pc fried in an electrical storm i am still
in the restore stage, so i do not neccessarily want to have to start from
scratch so soon.
but i have noticed since posting the question that the addresses outlook is
trying to install are coming from my off line MSN contacts. does this help

but even though this is where it is obtaining the email addresses from they
are not staying as active emails, whether i choose primary, secondary or
third email option.

Clarify the problem you are having. Your description is too vague.
Explain why you think the synchronization caused the problem.
Explain exactly how you are entering the address and what happens.
Examine your Contact Records and ensure they are intact.

Russ sorry about being vague but i will try to step it out for us.
1. open outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360) sp1
2. click on contacts tab
3. double click on an existing contact.
(his email address is blank, will use id john lewis
(e-mail address removed)).
4. full name field is filled in as "john lewis",
file as "Lewis, John
phone number is filled in
5. i go to right side of panel and start to type his email address under
email 1.
6. after typing the first letter i get a pop up with 5 email addresses
(e-mail address removed)
Sharon
Cockburn([email protected])
(e-mail address removed)
simonbartlett
<[email protected]
and the email address i want to enter
(e-mail address removed)
after entering the second letter i am left with the correct address and it
does not
matter whether i type "(e-mail address removed)" or select
"John Lewis([email protected])"
from the pop up it converts to the popup address of
"John Lewis([email protected])"
7. i hit enter or tab to go out of that box and the email address disappears.
i save the contact details but there is still no email address.
8. if i put a bogus email address like "(e-mail address removed) "
it accepts it and it stay there as it should. but no good to me because it is
not the email address i want.

hope this is clear enough

If the synchronization trashed your Contact Records, then you should
restore from backup.

Russ,

The Contact folder links to the NK2 file. To verify this, take any contact
without an e-mail address and start to type an e-mail address that you know
is in the NK2 file. I verified this on my system. It seems to me that this
might be what this person is experiencing. Feel free to write me at my
"other" e-mail address.

But if a user types in enough letters to completely dismiss the suggested
names list in an email field, then the address that is typed in will
persist. It will not be replaced by one of the names from the NK2 file.
There must be more in play here.
