Fixing computer

When I pull up programs to use, they come up and as I
start doing what I need to, they pop out and close on
their own. What can be causing this and how do I fix it?
 
Lucille, if you have a WinXP CD, try this. Start>Run type:
sfc /scannow Have the cd in the cdrom drive. This will
check your system files and try and repair any corrupt ones.
