FIX - Back button problems when using a customized HOSTS file

My apologies if this has been posted before, but in searching for an
answer myself, I just couldn't find anything. For a quick background,
I have two XP machines (currently SP1) running IE6. I use the HOSTS
file provided by mvps.org, which has done a great job of blocking a
lot of unwanted content. However, I have experienced the Back button
issue described by others, where the browser doesn't actually take you
to the previous page (due to the fact 127.0.0.1 was loaded in between
the two pages). Anyway, I was only having this problem on one of the
two machines and couldn't figure out the difference between the
machines.

Finally I've tracked this down to a setting on the Advanced Tab of
IE's settings. There is an entry named "Show friendly HTTP error
messages." This was checked on the machine having Back button issues
but not on the other. Once unchecked, I have not had any more issues.
Relief at last.

For some additional detail, I found that when this setting is checked,
the URL of the blocked content started with:

res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm#

while when unchecked it changes to:

res://C:\WINDOWS\System32\shdoclc.dll/navcancl.htm#

Don't know if this will be useful to anyone else. Thought I'd post in
case it is. And while I assume it will work for others, I've only
proven this on a couple of machines.
