I fixed the address freeze problem by eliminating the security update
KB908531 but overnight my computer does an automatic update and reinstalles
the updates and I have the same problem all over again. Why hasn't Microsoft
fixed this problem???? do I have to deletet the update every day???

The Registry edit referenced in Resolutions section of 918615 above can be
implemented by downloading:

HP's Share-to-Web software - Fix (Line 383, Right)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

To use: Download the .vbs file and save it to your hard drive (you may want
to right click and use Save Target As). Double-click the vbs file. You will
be prompted when the script is done.

Did you configure automatic updates to "Notify me but don't automatically
download or install them"?

Many have had success with the regedit after installing the update.

for those who don't like editing the registry
When you had the update installed, did you try :-
Ottmar Freudenberger's patch available at:-
http://patch-info.de/WinXP/Downloads/KB908531_Share-To-Web.zip
(Note this is a Zip file and will need to be extracted. It contains a REG
file
which needs to be imported into the registry)
or
Kelly has made a patch available at:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line #383 - this is a vbs file and instructions on how to use such files are
at the top of the page.
