Hello

I use xpsp2 home.

If a firmare update on a dvd-rom drive does not succeed is there a way to
roll back to its original factory configuration ? The model is Lite-On DVD
SOHD-16P9SV. Thank you.

did you save the old file? if not does the vendor have the older version on
their site? if not you are probably hosed.

If the drive has been disabled by the firmware update, it is time to buy a
new one.. you might want to leave firmware updates alone in future..

Hello Jerry Ryba

Thank you all for your replies. Jerry saved my day. club.cdfreaks.com was
the starting point. From there I was sent a link to
http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares.html. From that link I managed to find
the model number for my dvd-rom drive. I downloaded the original firmware
and the patcher. The rest is history.

Good advice Mike but in my case the firmware update was somehow corrupt and
I cleaned it out with the patcher software then installed the original
version. Thank you.

Lucky you.. I did it one drive, and it wouldn't play ball after.. glad that
it worked for you.. just don't try it again.. luck has a nasty habit of
deserting..
