Hi there,
I think I am right in saying that DV-AVI is only available if the program
reads that capability as available when it gets something called DevCaps.
So, your Sony camera (I know nothing about Sony) is that a DV camera? and
if it is, do you have it connected to the computer via an iLink (Firewire)
cable?
If you can't capture using DV-AVI take a look at the Links section of my
website for a program called WinDV. Its a free utility that transfers
"footage" between camera and computer (both directions).
Failing that, I would suggest you import using the highest possible setting
for WMV files which I believe is 2.1Mb/s (That's not a bad resolution) You
can then export to DV-AVI if you wish. Using DV-AVI is OK, there is no
compression so you will get the quality you see on your monitor, and as
you do not intend to edit the video you could also leave it in its captured
WMV format. That step rather depends on what your DVD software requires.
Hope this helps a little
