I have an older whitebox kit running Windows XP. It is slow. Has a 20GB HD that is 85% full, and most of the material I wish to keep in the meantime.
I have a new, (still in box), HP6060 2.15MHz with 1GB RAM and 320GB HD loaded with Vista Home Premium.
I also have a Seagate FreeAgent 320GB desktop HD, new, as yet unformatted.
I fancy I want to load all my existing HD to the Seagate, O/S and all.
I imagine it will be a slow job because of the 1.1USB port on my old computer, but once done the HP has a faster 2.0USB.
I will then have the option of selecting the O/S (drive) I wish to use at startup on the new HP.
Am I dreaming? Is it that simple? What process should I follow? I am a bit green at these things so any suggestions or guidance will be more than welcome.
