outlook 2003. how can i get my mail directed to outlook

chris e,
The easiest way for Outlook to view AOL/AIM Mail is to use their IMAP
servers:
http://postmaster.aol.com/imap/outlook02.html

This will create a second personal folder in your Outlook application, and a
second *.PST file in the default location.

AOL Open Mail Access

How do I use Outlook 2002 and 2003 to read and send AOL e-mail?

You can read and send AOL e-mail using Microsoft® Outlook® 2002 and
Outlook® 2003.

To configure a new e-mail account in Outlook:

1.. Open Outlook 2002 or Outlook 2003.
2.. On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
3.. In the E-mail Accounts window, click Add a new e-mail account.
4.. Click Next.
5.. In the Server Type window, click IMAP.
6.. Click Next.
7.. In the Internet E-mail Settings (IMAP) window, enter the following
information:
a.. Your Name. Enter the name you wish to appear on outgoing e-mail.
b.. E-mail Address. Enter your full AOL e-mail address, e.g.,
(e-mail address removed).
c.. User Name. Enter your AOL screen name, e.g., eyelvjennifer.
d.. Password. Enter the password for your AOL account.
e.. Incoming mail server (IMAP). Enter the following: imap.aol.com.
f.. Outgoing mail server (SMTP). Enter the following: smtp.aol.com.
8.. Click More Settings.
9.. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
10.. Click the My outgoing server requires authentication check box.
11.. Click Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
12.. Click the Advanced tab.
13.. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field, change the number that displays
to 587.
14.. Click OK.
15.. Click Next.
16.. Click Finish.

For AIM Email accts, you can either use the above AOL server names, or use
the following server names in the acct setup process.

a.. Incoming mail server (IMAP). Enter the following: imap.aim.com.
a.. Outgoing mail server (SMTP). Enter the following: smtp.aim.com.
