I just finished a very simple powerpoint (97-sr2) presentation. I think
everything went well with it. I saved it and believe it will work for
me. It is to be displayed on a large screen during a presentation where
I will be speaking. There will be much time when no display is wanted on
the screen.

My question is about what to do when a blank (dark) screen is wanted.
The way I have built this has several screens in consecutive frames.

Should I have a black frame inserted in the places between the frames
that I want to be seen? If so, how is the best way to generate this frame?

I'm thinking this depends on the abilities of the person running the
computer.

Suggestions?

Many remotes have a "blank" button that blacks the screen.

Or you can just put in a black slide. That will be the most foolproof way of
approaching it, I think. Just let the person running the computer know what
you've done.

To insert a blank black slide in PPT 97, use Insert | Slide and choose the
Blank layout if you're prompted (if you're not, you can change it later or
just leave it as-is. The placeholders won't show on the slide show view
unless you add text to them), then Format | Background and change the color
to black. You may need to choose "omit background graphics from master."
