After getting the phone yesterday and playing around with it, mainly listening to music with the new set of AKG phones bundled with it (my views on it in another post soon), I could not wait to test it out as far as the photo capabilities were concerned.

All the pictures posted are straight "out of the box" with no editing/post processing whatsoever. All of them were taken handheld including the night shots. I used the "Pro" mode in many of them due to tricky light situations where the manual setting for proper exposure was necessary. I did not use the flash in any of the images posted.

Wow Quad! Those photos look very impressive. You must be feeling so pleased with your new toy, :thumb:

Great photos! It seems to cope well with low light situations. I'd be interested to see a side by side comparison of the S8 vs S7 to see how much of an improvement there is.

Are you pleased with the S8 so far?

Thank you girls :)

Becky, to be honest, If there was a difference between the S7 Edge and S8 it would be small. I wish I had both the phones so I could take identical pictures. Essentially it is the same camera but I did read that Samsung made a few changes to the electronic chips of the camera section and its processing engine.

Yes I do like it very much, it feels good in the hands, I can even unlock it with one hand via finger print sensor at the back, with S7 Edge I had to use two hands.

Ah I had wondered what the finger print scanner would be like on the back, it's nice to hear it works well. I'm left handed so I think it would feel like it's in the wrong place for me though.

Nope it would not pose a problem, I tried it and it seems to work, I pretended I was left handed by touching my finger on the opposite side and I could easily reach it. So if you were to unlock it with your left hand I am pretty sure you could manage. Maybe give it a try by stopping by at the store and see for yourself

Good to know - thanks for testing it for me! :)

Those panoramas are great. I think they're better than what I could achieve with the S7 - the brightness always seems to be out when I do a panorama. Those are nicely balanced :thumb:

Great pics Quad. Yes the S7 and S8 cameras are very similar They have slight differences but mostly its the post processing iirc. :)

Here's a comparison video might be of interest for those wondering.. :)

Looks like there's quite an improvement with the front facing camera, I have to admit I don't like the wide angle of the S7. Like you say there's an improvement with the processing too, especially when it comes to video stabilisation. Interesting :thumb:

Looks good! Pretty impressive how well it can stick the images together. I rarely use this mode on my S7, but next time I'm somewhere nice, I'll give it a shot to see how it compares :).

I would love to see your take

Thanks for the comparison video, as you know I do a low of night photography and S8 does a better job in that situation, mainly the improvements are due to post processing engine which has been tweaked further.
