Outlook 2000

Cannot seem to get my Contacts listed as First Name 1st
and Last Name Last...I even tried deleting them out and
having my handheld overwrite them..My handheld is first
name last name...still they keep showing up wrong. I have
made sure Contact preferences are set correctly in the
save as order area (First,Last). I went through and
changed them each individually but they are now back again
someout with Last Name first...Driving me crazy here!!
Anyway, it should be straight forward right? Confused on
this one...Please help....Thank You very much!!!

You didn't specify in which view you wanted the Contacts sorted this way.
You'll also need to post your mail support mode (line 2 of Help | About if
you don't know).

Thanks....I guess I don't quit understand your solution
here. I do think is may have something to do with how the
email addresses for the contacts are kept., but not
sure ...anyway ...basically go into outlook, Click on
Contacts, there they are Last Name First. Need to change
them (not individually) to first name first but cannot.
Thanks again!!!!

So you want to change the File As... field globally for all existing
contacts? That requires code.
This MS KB article may help:

Thanks again for the article...The only thing is I tried
it and I have gotten a script error. When I look at the
line number and compare to the article it looks right, I
cannot see any type o's . Now I am not sure how to proceed
as I am already over my head somewhat, as I am not a
programmer. Is it Visual Basic I am doing? and do the each
of the lines of code have to be staggered or can they all
start at the left justify? Anyway,I have loaded Office XP
which now gives me Outlook 2002 instead of Outlook 2000
still think I should be able to change the addresses to
1st name then Last name..Any more direction or assistance
would be great!! Have good one!!!

I'm no programmer either. I'd head over to the programming group with this
one.

Please specify where you want them "listed". When you
click on the Contacts folder, do you mean the name in the
gray bar (File As order). Or, do you mean when you click
the TO button when sending a new email, or do you mean in
the Full Name field when you are filling out the contact?
