At Toms HW it says that HP was the first out with a 5c system.

When was that?

I actually believe that the first 5c-system was a neither a US company nor a
Japanese one.

I think it was Italian Olivetti.

HP introduced a six color printer, the Deskjet 690 in 1996. The first
Photosmart came out in 1997.
